To mark Valentine’s Day, an interactive installation - Heart of Ukraine - has been unveiled at the Southern Railway Station in Kyiv. Here, anyone can confess their feelings to a loved one, the city or Ukraine, and see their passions in real time: with each declaration, the interactive heart beats faster.
This can be done until February 17th. Afterwards, the installation will function as a survey: visitors will be able to choose what they love most about Ukraine. The questions will change weekly, and the results will be showcased at the largest exhibition dedicated to our country, Ukraine WOW, in August. To participate, visitors need to scan the QR code located on-site and create a personalized confession. The organizers encourage sharing photos and videos of their confessions using the hashtag #ukrainewow.
“We are transforming railway stations into attractive locations where hundreds of thousands of people meet and say goodbye; where they go for their favorite coffee and cake, or to buy a new book. We also strive to ensure that visitors can experience art in the station at any time: a performance by a leading music ensemble or an impromptu piano performance by passengers; a photo exhibition, or contemporary art installation. We are happy to be part of the interactive Heart of Ukraine installation, as we believe that a railway station has a rhythm, a pulse: a true heart that beats. We are thrilled that this is the start of the record-breaking Ukraine WOW project’s revival, which will make our local and foreign guests even more in love with the railway and Ukraine,” said the Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, Oleksandr Pertsovsky.
The artists behind the interactive installation Heart of Ukraine are Mykola Kabluka, founder of Expolight, and Valerii Kuznetsov (decorkuznetsov). The Expolight team of award-winning international artists has created projects with lighting technologies worldwide—from New York to Dubai.
The installation was made possible thanks to the support of the Aurora multi-market network.
“Heart of Ukraine is one of our joint projects with Ukraine WOW as part of a larger collaboration to promote Ukrainian culture. Through such creative endeavors and product lines with Ukrainian design, we want to tell the world about our culture and history, making more people fall in love with our national identity,” said Roman Sivkovskyi, CMO of the Aurora multi-market network.
The Heart of Ukraine installation is located in Kyiv, at the Southern Railway Station, 4 Heorhiia Kirpy Street. The installation will be available for viewing starting February 13, 2025. It will be open daily from 05:00 to 00:00 with no breaks or days off.

"This interactive heart is the first project on the way to bringing back the largest exhibition dedicated to Ukraine, Ukraine WOW," say the founders of the public organization, Julia Solovey and Yaroslava Gres. "From November 2019 to March 2020, it gathered more than 333,000 people at the railway station and became a record-holder in the history of independent Ukraine. The exhibition closed only due to the COVID pandemic. This August, Ukraine WOW will reopen at the railway station with new installations, exhibits, and stories. It will support and unite Ukrainians during difficult times, and remind people that, despite everything, everyone can say: Ukraine is wow because we are together, now."
The installation at the Southern Railway Station was made possible with the support of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia.
